1885 – The beginnings

Kleindienst GmbH founded in Augsburg, Germany.

1962 – The first automatic car wash

Development of the “carousel” by Gebhard Weigele and Johann Sulzberger – the starting point for modern vehicle washing.

1963–1976 – Technological progress

From electrically powered brushes and integrated dryers to a system specifically for cleaning the wheels – new standards in efficiency and wash quality.

1985 – Intelligent control

Introduction of the programmable logic controller for optimised washing times and a dryer nozzle that tracks the vehicle contour.

2000 – WashTec becomes market leader

WESUMAT merges with California Kleindienst to form WashTec AG – the global leader in vehicle washing.

2002 – Modularity & individualisation

Launch of the “SoftCare Pro” – a car wash that combines cutting-edge technology with individual design.

2008 – Full-service provider with AUWA Chemie

Integration of high-quality washing chemicals for a perfect washing result – optimally coordinated with the system technology.
